Alexandra Posada is building new homes with old tires in Colombia

It’s a new development in green technology that you could say bends the rules. Using discarded tires to construct a home. Environmental concerns have communities around the world looking for ways to increase recycling and better manage their waste. One particular challenge is the disposal of old tires. The rubber product is nearly indestructible and a hazard to landfills. But one woman in Colombia is promoting a novel and practical use for the tires. Alexandra Posada uses a technique known as Earthship biotecture to build the homes. They’re considered the ultimate in green buildings. There are seminars and training sessions to teach this technique worldwide.
